The American rapper, Calvin Cordazar Broadus Jr., popularly known as Snoop Dogg, has caused a controversial debate about the LGBTQ+ representation in children’s films, specifically the Disney-Pixar Lightyear movie.
Speaking in the Podcast It’s Giving of Sarah Fontenot, the hip-hop legend reported how his grandson questioned a same-sex couple portrayed in the film.
“Why my grandson in the midst of the movie as ‘Pope Snoop, how does a baby with a woman have a woman’,” he said. “I did not enter for this. I just saw the movie. Now I have questions to which I have no answers.”
The rapper admitted that he was surprised by surprise, adding that children are naturally curious and will demand explanations when they are exposed to such issues.

“He threw me into a loop … They are going to ask questions, and I don’t have an answer,” he said.
Lightyear, a spin-off of the Toy Story franchise of Pixar, attracted a violent reaction of the conservatives in 2022 for including a kiss of the same sex, a scene that was initially cut before being restored.
At that time, actor Chris Evans, who told Buzz Lightyear, defended the decision, dismissing critics as “scared and without realizing it.”
Snoop’s comments have caused online mixed reactions, with progressive voices that criticize their position, especially because it is scheduled to act in the next grand final of the Australian Football League (AFL). Since then, AFL executives have defended it in lineup despite the violent reaction.
