More than 1,000 supporters of the former presidential candidate and head of the Democratic Party of the Peoples (PDP), Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, on Monday converged at the place of the 102nd meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party in Abuja, with the call to declare interest in the 2027 presidential race.

Men and women retirement, as well as young people, dressed in colorful vests and face caps, showed bold banners and sang solidarity songs in support of the entrepreneur, describing it as “a credible alternative and a unifier that the nation urgently needs in this critical moment.”

The demonstration was coordinated by three important support groups: Hashim Unity Group, led by the Honorable Musa Makanda, former president of the Bwari area council; The hashims, directed by Mr. Sunday tsado; and Hashim’s defenders, led by Mallam Abba, former youth leader of the PDP in the FCT in 1999.

When addressing the meeting, the groups of the groups spoke in unison, describing Dr. Hashim as an incarnation of the best leadership qualities within the vision, the integrity of the PDP and a consistent history of defense of democracy and good governance.

They urged the leadership of the PDP to emulate their political behavior and prepare it as a candidate for the PDP before the 2027 presidential elections.

Last week, the youth leaders of the PDP of the 36 states formally welcomed Dr. Hashim to the party and asked other party leaders to emulate him in their support for the young people of the party while the PDP prepares for 2027.

ADC leaders are prodigal children, repentant back to return – PDP governors

The forum of governors of the Democratic Party of the Peoples (PDP) has joined problems with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for its critical stridents to the meeting of the PDP governors forum held in the state of Zamfara on Saturday.

The PDP lashed out at the deserters of the party, which form the bulwark of ADC leadership, saying that its exit was a good walk for bad garbage.

The ADC had described the dinner of the governors of the PDP and the colorful meeting in Gusau as insensitive due to the state of insecurity in Zamfara.

The National Secretary of Advertising of the Party, Malam Balaji Abdullahi, had described the Gusau meeting as “an insensitive Jamboree”, rebuking the governors for ignoring the pain inflicted on people for bandits attacks.

However, in a statement by its general director, Dr. Emmanuel Agbo, the PDP governors forum accused the ADC of interpreting politics with human lives, since the PDP door remains open to repentant members who show a genuine remorse.

The governors said that ADC’s burst was based on frustration by deserters.

“In general, we would not grant them the rare privilege of joining problems, but it is our sense of responsibility to correct the wrong impression that is forced to lower the sensibilities of the innocent Nigerian public that this response requires.

“Playing politics and trying to win political capital with human lives is not our stock in commerce, as is characteristic of ADC.

“Zamfara’s meeting was scheduled and was not a spolous thing. ADC should have made it better to empathize through a visit to the affected states than to play the gallery.

“The meeting deliberately deliberate on the state of the nation, the security situation, among other critical issues of national interest and at the end of the day a statement that created time and space to comment on the state of insecurity and security reforms as follows:

“The forum praises particularly the initiatives of the Government of the State of Zamfara to significantly stop insecurity within the State; but condemns the continuous monstrous murders in Katsina, Plateau, Niger and Benue and other parts of the country and those called to the federal government are more receptive to the lives and properties of the citizenships,” he said.

The forum described the ADC as prodigal children whose dropout has brought great relief to the PDP.

According to the party, “since its departure, the PDP has become much more formidable and focused, with our eyes on the ball.

“The ADC before now, with its excessive sense of law, constituted a great obstruction to the wheel of unity and national harmony.

“The security situation in the country was a serious concern for the governors of the PDP, who occupied the center of the stage of our deliberation and resolution as contained in the statement.

“The ADC could not see that this is not surprising, since it was not known that the prodigal son had a penalty with his father’s fortune.”
