The Kogi state government has reiterated its commitment to expand access to medical care for citizens by ensuring that more kogites are registered under the state health insurance scheme.
The information and communications commissioner, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, said in a statement in Lokoja that politics is designed to reduce poverty by reducing what families spend in medical care, while providing access to affordable and quality health services.
According to him, “health insurance is one of the most effective ways of getting people out of medical poverty. By bringing our people to the scheme, we are not only making medical care accessible; the governor is also demonstrating that the government is concerned about the well -being of people.”
Fanwo revealed that beyond health insurance, the state government is also strongly investing in medical education and infrastructure to train a new generation of health professionals in the Tertiary Health Institutions of the State.
“In the Faculty of Science, Technology and Health (Custech-TH), Okene, the construction is ongoing in two blocks of student shelters for students of male and female medicine, as well as two blocks from doctors.
“In Lokoja, the state government approved the construction of the officers of the House of Representatives at the Kogi State Specialists Hospital (KSSH) to improve the training and well -being of young doctors.
“To strengthen the provision of medical care at all levels, the government has also embarked on the production and large -scale distribution of health data tools (NHMIS data tools) for primary health centers (PHC), as well as secondary and tertiary health facilities. This will guarantee the proper capture of service data on the national platform (DHIS2), in line with best practices,” he said.
Fanwo added that the governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, is determined to consolidate existing profits by investing in people, structures and systems that will make medical care in the state of Kogi sustainable and focused on people.
