The former president of the United States, Joe Biden, underwent surgery to eliminate cancer cells from his skin and is recovering well, NBC News reported Thursday, citing a spokesman.
The procedure, known as Mohs surgery, is a common treatment for the most frequent forms of skin cancer.
According to Reuters, the operation occurs months after Biden, 82, revealed in May that he had been diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer. His team described the disease as “aggressive but sensitive to hormones”, pointing out that it is likely to respond to treatment.
A spokesman did not immediately respond to a comment request on Thursday on surgery.
Biden previously had a cutaneous lesion eliminated during a routine physique in 2023 while working as president, which was later identified as basal cell carcinoma.
The health and mental aptitude of the former president were often questioned during his time in office. In July 2024, he finished his re -election campaign weeks after an unstable debate act against Donald Trump promoted concerns within the Democratic Party.
Biden was the elderly chosen when he won in 2020, a record that later broke when Trump, now 79, was elected president last year.

Since he left office, Biden has remained largely outside the public eye. In April, he delivered a speech defending the Social Security Administration against the proposed cuts of the Trump administration.
