Former President Goodluck Jonathan, on Thursday, criticized Nigerian politicians, saying that most of them are not reliable.

Jonathan spoke in the 70th birthday celebration of a former minister, Chief Mike Aiyegbeni Oghiaomhe, in Benin, the capital of the state of Edo.
He was emphatic that most of them lacked integrity because “you can’t take their words to the bank.”
Oghiaomhe served as chief of the former president from 2010 to 2014.
He was the vice governor of the State of Edo from 1999 to 2007; Chief of Staff of the Vice President from 2007 to 2008 and the Private Secretary of the Vice President (2008-2010).
Remembering his days in office as president, Jonathan said he was a victim of betrayal during the 2025 general elections that marked the end of the 16 -year reign of the Democratic Party (PDP) of the peoples at the federal level.
“I have witnessed many betrayals, especially during my 2015 elections,” he joked.
The former president, however, exalted Chief Oghiaomhe, who, he said, is one of his most reliable friends whose loyalty is unequal.

“Oghiaomhe is one of the few friends that I have to give her neck for me,” said the former president.
Jonathan said that politics in Nigeria are betrayals, adding that Oghiaomhe’s tastes are uncommon.
“It will be difficult to see someone who will say the same in the morning and say the same in the afternoon and at night.
“I have witnessed many betrayals, especially during my 2015 elections.
“Mike is someone I have as one of my brothers and friends. Mike is a person who will take a bullet in my name. So, for an occasion like this, I don’t know how to recommend it.
“For me, he is someone whom you can take his words to the bank.
“Most politicians can’t take their words to the bank.
“They will tell you something in this minute and next hour, they will say another. The next time they will say something else. I am quite happy to partner with you,” Jonathan said.
Oghiaomhe is a long -standing member of the PDP trustee.
The dignitaries in the event included Senator Adams Oshiomhole, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief Tom Ikimi, the Chief Medical Director (CMD), to the Teaching Hospital of the University of Benin, the Professor (Mrs.) Izia Ize-Iyamu, former governors Lucky Igbineedion, Oserheimen Osunbor and Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo.
Others were the boss Mike Ozekhome (San), the 2024 PDP governor candidate in the EDO and his deputy, ASUE IGHODALO, and OSARODION OGIE, current vice -governor, Dennis Idahosa, president, House of Assembly of Edo State, Blessing Agbebaku.
