History

Nigeria also has a long history with this disease. The first case was in 1971, but there was a resurgence in 2017, and since then, Mpox has been a problem in the country.

Recently, Tribune Online reports that the disease has been confirmed in the state of Ondo. The affected areas are Akoko South-We, Akoko North-West, Akoko North-East, Owo, Akure South, Akure North, Ondo East and Odigbo.

How MPOX is transmitted

3. Contact with clothes, towels or bedding used by an infected person.

4. consuming the meat of an infected animal.

5. Leather to skin contact.

6. Kisses or embraced with an infected person.

Treatment

Your medical care provider or antibody treatment can prescribe antiviral medications such as cidofovir or tecovirimat.

Prevention

The best way to avoid the cause of MPOX is to vaccinate. Other ways to prevent are:

1. Do not touch exposed MPOX eruptions, scabs or ampoules.

2. Wash your hands frequently.

3. Do not approach known infected people or animals.

4. Avoid the clothes of an infected person.
