The governor of Niger, Mohammed Umar Bago, has reaffirmed the mastery of the Congress of all progressives (APC) in the state, declaring “100% an APC state” without a credible threat of the opposition.
Speaking in the TVC policy on Sunday with FEMI Akande, Bago emphasized that support for President Bola Tinubu is still strong in Niger, proving economic reforms and the president’s impulse of infrastructure for the continuous development of the State.
“Everyone knows that it is the support of the president who has brought what we are enjoying now as a development of infrastructure and growth in agriculture,” said the governor.

Bago also addressed his recent decision to dissolve the State Executive Council, describing it as part of a period in the middle of the period aimed at strengthening governance. According to him, the measure was necessary to evaluate the performance of the commissioners based on the key performance indicators (KPI).
“Some commissioners were carried out above the threshold, while others had a lower performance. To avoid being vindictive, we dissolved the entire cabinet. Some may return, while others will be redistributed to areas where their strengths are more appropriate,” he explained.
The governor emphasized that his administration is committed to the construction of institutions instead of individuals, noting that permanent secretaries are currently executing ministries to guarantee continuity.
He argued that transparency and responsibility remain the guiding principles of his government, adding that Niger governance will not be interrupted by political distractions.
Beyond politics, Bago highlighted the state infrastructure projects, including the remodeling of the State Secretariat and the expansion of the Minna-Funa road of 84 kilometers on a four-lane toll road, executed through associations with international financatives.
He also revealed that the state of Niger has quadrupled its internally generated income (IGR), now reaching N10 billion per month, while attracting investments in agriculture and mechanization.
The governor concluded by reiterating that APC is still firmly in control of Niger’s state policy, and Tinubu’s reforms pave the way for unprecedented development.
