The National Treasurer of the National Association of Pilots and Aircraft Engineers (NAAPE), Captain Bunmi Gindeh, advocates alternative funds for the training of pilots and engineers as a means of capacity and competition construction in the Nigeria aviation sector.
Speaking in Abuja while declaring his interest to run for the position of president of the association, Gindeh said that training for pilots and engineers is generally expensive, although necessary to improve security.
He said: “Training for engineers and pilots is very expensive, as we all know. The plan I have is to involve the private sector and government in financing.
“We understand that many banks are looking to help our members in terms of obtaining their licenses, going abroad and training. Here, the obstacle is causing people who remain guarantee for them,” he said.
Gindeh explained that, if he is elected as president of the association, “we will seek to address the funds for training. We will defend them and work with the private sector to obtain funds for training.”
He said that security defense is where he should be. “Many people do not know things like this. We need to make more defense and create public awareness to improve security in the aviation industry.
“Security is our pact with the flying public. We will fiercely resist any attempt to compromise the standards for commercial gain. Under my leadership, Naape would not be just a guard dog; we will associate ourselves to enforce security.
“We would institute continuous and robust training programs, we would facilitate the knowledge exchange workshops between pilots and engineers, and ensure that our members are at the forefront of the latest technology and procedures.”
The treasurer said: “An expert member is a safe member. A safe member is an empowered member. Synergy between the cabin and maintenance hangar is what keeps the industry alive.
“I will break down any silos that exists between pilots and engineers. We are a family and a force,” he said.
The association, which will mark its 40th anniversary in a few days, was established to promote the well -being of pilots and engineers in the Nigeria aviation sector.
