All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers has described recent comments from Omoyele Sowore, the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), against President Bola Tinubu as “serious betrayal crime.”

The APC rivers also urged the federal government to take a firm position against the activist, asking the Nigerians to reject what he described as the clown of the people “wishing to rub the integrity of the country into the mud”, instead of paying attention to “a merchant in series of discord and supplier of half truths.”

In a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, the president of the APC Rivers state, Tony Okocha, said that spreading false claims to damage the reputation of others is “unacceptable.”

He added that “trying to incite the Nigerians against the government with the rawness of the style is a serious crime of betrayal”, emphasizing that “any action capable of undermining public trust and threatening Nigeria’s democracy, derived from Malice, is unacceptable.”

Sowore had recently described President Tinubu as a “criminal” and claimed that Wike used public funds to acquire houses in Florida, United States.

Answering, Okocha said: “In each democracy, criticisms are welcome, but what Nigerians must reject are deliberate lies, propaganda and attempts to defame under the costume of” activism “.”

He added: “This is exactly what Omoyele Sowore, editor of the Sahara reporters, has perfected over the years. Sowore has built his entire career in lies. His platform is known for publishing manufactured stories and half truths, often used as tools for blackmail and extortion.”

According to Okocha, the accusations are “nothing more than the bitter ditches of a man rejected by the Nigerians in the surveys and drowning in political irrelevance”, questioning why “a citizen sane in a country can refer to the highest holder of his position as a ‘criminal'”.

He recalled that the Nigerian police had recently accused Sowore for falsification and false publication about an alleged false police signal. “This is not activism. It is a direct crime,” Okocha said.

He also noted that “Sowore is currently a trial for the cybercrime and defamation,” pointing out the charges presented by the DSS that accuses him of spreading false and inciting messages against Tinubu on social networks.

Okocha argued that Sowore’s actions aimed to “encourage public disturbances and destabilize Nigeria,” saying that such behavior disqualified him from attacker leaders.

He also recalled the #RevolutionNow protests in 2019, describing them as “an attempt to insurrection” instead of a genuine activism. “No genuine Democrat asks the violent overthrow of a legitimate government,” he said.

The president of APC said that Sowore’s claims against Tinubu and Wike amounted to blackmail. “Provide convincing and verifiable facts that lead to certain nickname conclusions and join each other to increase it to the high heavens,” he said.

Highlighting the achievements of Tinubu and Wike, Okocha said that Nigerians should focus on visible progress.

“President Tinubu is implementing his 10 -point agenda under the theme ‘Agenda of renewed hope’. The economy is booming!

“The road infrastructure is verifiable. The Billón de Nama Lagos/Calabar highway, which experts like Sowore ruled out as an impossibility very well.
