Vice President Kashim Shettima left New York after representing President Bola Tinubu at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80).
It will be remembered that the UN Secretary General, António Guterres, praised Nigeria’s impulse for a permanent seat in the UN Security Council during Shettima’s visit.
While in New York, Shettima promoted the energy transition plan of $ 200 billion Nigeria to investors and associations advanced with the United Kingdom on trade, defense and migration.
He also delivered President Tinubu’s national statement, asking for UN reforms and support Nigeria’s case for a permanent security council seat.
The vice president emphasized the importance of African control over mineral resources of $ 700 billion of the continent and highlighted Nigeria digital inclusion initiatives.

He also met with the Gates Foundation to expand access to medical care and education and presented Nigeria as a center for the continental free trade area of ​​$ 3.4 billion (AFCFTA).
Shettima was seen at the John F. Kennedy International Airport by Cabinet Ministers of the Unga 80 delegation and the officials of the Nigerian mission.
He will return to Nigeria after his commitments scheduled in Germany.
