The governor of the state of Lagos, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-olu, has ordered the Nigerians to defend the founding values ​​of the nation of resilience, patriotism and faith in God, emphasizing that Nigeria’s progress depended on the collective efforts of his people.

The Governor Sanwo-olu made the call during the 65th National Service for the celebration of Independence Day held in Lagos on Sunday, saying that the celebration of Independence Day was not only a reminder of the freedom won with so much effort of the nation, but also a call to renew the dedication to the construction of a stronger and more prosperous country.

The governor, who was represented by his chief of cabinet (COS), Mr. Tayo Ayinde, reformulated the commitment of his administration to promote unity, peace and accelerated development in the state and throughout Nigeria.

He said that Lagos remained a brilliant example of diversity and inclusion, noting that his administration would continue to create opportunities for all residents, regardless of ethnicity, faith or background.

Governor Sanwo-olu, while expressing his gratitude to God to ensure that Nigeria resisted judgments and triumphs, praised religious institutions for his role in promoting peace, moral values ​​and social cohesion in the state, asking the Nigerians who remain hopeful and optimistic about the future.

“Looking back on our trip, it is clear that it is only the grace of God that Nigeria has resisted the evidence and triumphs.

“Here in Lagos, we are witness of Grace every day. Our state, a melting pot of each tribe and language of the country, has become a refuge of opportunity and unity. It is a place where Nigeria’s rich diversity joins, showing what we can achieve when we collaborate in peace and understanding.

“At age 65, our nation still faces significant challenges. However, Lagos is a testimony that with faith, resilience and dedicated leadership, progress is within reach.

“From improving our infrastructure to improving schools and medical care, from the creation of work opportunities to fostering the creativity of our youth, Lagos exemplifies that Nigeria’s potential is not only a dream, but a reality that we can achieve.

“As we express our gratitude today, let’s also buy to pray for our leaders to be managers responsible for the blessing we have received and walk in the unit as a family. Remember that the strength of lakes lies in their people, and the future of Nigeria will be molded by the choice we make together, guided by God,” the governor established.

In his sermon, entitled: “A nation on the rise”, the supervisor of the district, the Church of the Foursquare Gospel, Phase 1 of Lekki, Lagos, the Reverend Dr. Paul Fadayini, said that the 65th service of celebration of independence was that the Nigerians celebrated the goodness and fidelity of God over their lives and not only the number of years of independence.

The cleric, who expressed strong the belief that Nigeria is a rising nation and will continue to increase and progress, accused the Nigerians to continue connected to God.

Fadayini also urged people to be deliberate and diligent by asking God to change Nigeria’s story forever.

The service, which was attended by the first lady of the State of Lagos, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, represented by Mrs. Funmi otoToso; Government officials, politicians, clergy, interested parties and students of the community, among others, presented prayers for political leaders and peace, unity and economic prosperity of Nigeria.
