Oba de Benin to start the EMORọ September 30 festival

The Oba de Benin, his real Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, will be on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, will hold the age emor, also known as ‘New Ñam Festival’.

The interior ceremony is expected to be held at the Oba Palace in Benin, after the successful end of two weeks of fasting and prayer declared by Oba Ewuare II for Peace, Progress and the beginning of the Eccorọ between September 15 and September 28, 2025.

In a statement signed by the Secretary of the Traditional Council of Benin, Frank Irabor, he said that the monarch used the period to pray for the good people of the State of Edo and the Nigerians.

Consequently, the traditional ruler appreciated all the indigenous people Edo, both at home and in the diaspora and the non -indigenous people who participated in the spiritual exercise.

He urged them to begin the consumption of Emorọ (new yam), while praying to God Almighty and his real ancestors to respond their prayers.

The statement in part says: “The inner ceremony to mark the margin of again Ñam (Emorho) in the Palace, would take place on Tuesday, September 30, 2025”.

“Subsequently, all the sons and daughters of the kingdom of Benin and, by extension, indigenous and non -indigenous who live in the state of Edo who participated in the fasting and the two -week prayer are to begin the food of the new Ñams.

“The N’oba says to Almighty God to grant us peace and happiness in our individual homes.”
