• The PDP is confused, the public members must ignore the claim, says the APC spokesman
The OSun State Chapter of the Democratic Party of the Peoples (PDP) on Wednesday gave an alarm on an alleged plan by the APC presidents in the State to pay almost n13 billion funds from the local government of the State as legal fees.
Therefore, the party asked the inspector general of the Police and the Commission of Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC) to investigate the matter, saying that in a filtered letter with a trend online, one of the dismissed presidents instructed UBA to pay a law firm (name) 15 percent of the allocation paid in the council account last week as legal tasks.
The president of the PDP in the State, Hon Sunday Bisi, described the board as illegal, saying that the party even met with authority that the former president of the APC in the 30 local government councils gave the same instructions to the bank.
“The total balance in all LG accounts is approximately N85 billion. Fifteen percent of that amount translates into N12.75 billion that these APC men wanted to pay as legal fees. Fortunately, the order of the Superior Court of the State of Oyo last Friday arrested them and their scheme,” he disclosed.
He claimed that the former presidents of the Council used personnel members who are not from the Council as treasurers and co-firming of the letters.
“There is no officer designated as a treasurer in the service scheme of the local government throughout the country. However, these people used people who are not personnel from the local government to occupy the non -existent position of treasurer.
“One of those who are used to sign the letter is a non -teaching staff (member) of a private Polytechnic in the area of the local Boluwaduro government.
“It’s shocking,” said the president of the PDP.
According to him, the letter was written a few days ago, instructing a deduction of 15% of the accounts of local governments to be paid to a legal professional with an UBA account.
The PDP said that the dismissed presidents signed “revocable deduction letters in favor of the law firm, which were sent to an UBA branch.”
This deduction would begin from February 2025 to September 2025.
“The APC has dropped to the lowest level with absolute impunity and deliberate trampling on the law and the Constitution.
“Despite a judicial order and a subsistent case before the Supreme Court, the APC is violating all known laws and public finance rules and regulations,” said Hon Bisi.
A Superior Court of the State of Oyo on Friday to a court order that restricted UBA to allow any payment outside the accounts opened by the former APC president, in which the CBN paid the seized allocations of seven months of the local governments.
“We call on the police inspector general to open criminal investigations on these letters and their authors. All the perpetrators of this illegality must be taken to the book,” the statement concluded.
Meanwhile, the APC spokesman, Chief Kola Olabisi, described the statement as falsehood, saying that he is far from the truth. He accused members of the public to ignore him.
Olabisi said it is a plot to give APC a bad name in front of the members of the public, and that the PDP is confused and does not know the right direction to take more.
