The governor of ABIA, Dr. Alex Otti, has demanded a written retraction, public apologies and the sum of N100BN as compensation of the Hon. Barr. Eze Chikamnayo, also known as Iyierioba Chikamnayo, about a series of “defamatory and malicious” publications that he made against him on Facebook.

In a letter dated October 2, 2025, and signed by his lawyer, Dr. Sonny Ajala, a main defender of Nigeria, Otti accused Chikamnayo of making “defamatory publications online online unjustified demonic line” against him in his Facebook account entitled “Iyierioba Chikamnayo”.

Publications, which include subtitled publications “Alex Otthief is a confirmed criminal and disaster!” Posted on September 22, 2025 and “Fighting Promax!” on September 21, 2025.

Others, like “old or new abia?” Shared on September 14, 2025, “Saturday message” on September 13, 2025, and “Alex Otthief is a confirmed criminal and congenital liar = looting governor!” On August 15, 2025, they were summoned as examples of defamatory attacks against the governor.

Ajala de Deeplaw Associates said: “Our client to avoid doubts is the only governor and executive director of a state within the 36 states of Nigeria that bears the name of Alex Chioma Otti, therefore, the members of the public do not require any effort to link all their resentment, false and false attacks on our client. Onomatopoeia and/or metonymy …”

The San said that the integrity of Otti has remained sterling over the years, citing his “distinguished career” in the banking sector, where he became managing director/executive director of Diamond Bank PLC before venturing into politics.

The letter reported how Otti faced the position on September 29, 2025, while in Abuja attended the conference of the main defender of Nigeria in the Attorney General of the State of Abia.

Ajala said OTTI’s attention was called to Chikamnayo’s Facebook wall, where he found “a cocktail of derogatory publications calculated to instigate public hatred against him.”

Ajala, in the letter, emphasized that his client “unequivocally denies in its entire malicious defamatory materials published online,” and added that “he (OTTI) has no criminal accusation at all or condemns by any court of justice and, therefore, declares unequivocally that the content of his online publications in general and specifically … as a clearer falsehoods.”

The San argued that Chikamnayo’s actions amounted to “non -quantifiable mental torture, depression, denigration, brutal destruction of their reputation built during the decades” and “completely disfigured and decreased the position of our client to the eyes and the estimate of the persons of right thought.”

The demands of Governor Otti include a written retraction of all the defamatory publications that will be published on the same Facebook wall, as well as in four national newspapers, namely, Thisday, Punch, The Nation and the newspapers of national ambassadors.

He also requested an apology in writing that was published on the same Facebook wall, the compensation of N100BN for damage to reputation and a company to stop more defamatory publications.

Ajala warned: “Keep in mind that if it fails, it refuses and ignores to meet our demands as contained in this document within seven (7) days after the delivery of this letter … without more resorting, we will resort to you..
