The British Anglican prelate and the former nurse, Sarah Mullally, has been named as the new Archbishop of Canterbury, making history as the first woman in 1,400 years to direct the Church of England and the World Anglican communion.
Mullerly, 63, who has served as London Bishop since 2018, will assume the most important position of the Church after Justin Welby’s resignation last year.
His appointment places it at the head of an institution that serves as a spiritual home for more than 85 million Anglicans worldwide.
In his first statement after the announcement, Mullall reflected on his nursing trip to the highest office in the Church.
“While I respond to Christ’s call to this new ministry, I do it with the same spirit of service to God and others who have motivated me since I got to faith when I was a teenager,” he said.

“At each stage of that trip, through my nursing career and my Christian ministry, I have learned to listen deeply, the people and God’s gentle impulses, to look for people to find hope and healing.”
Before entering the Ministry, Mulord built a successful career in medical care, working as a nurse in several London hospitals.
He got up to become a nursing director of England, the highest -ranking nurse in the country, before being ordered in 2001.
She occupied several roles of the high -level church before becoming a bishop of London, the third most important bishop in the Church of England.
