The National Agency for Food and Medicines Administration (NAFDAC) has sealed two Chinese supermarkets and eight cosmetics stores in Abuja to sell unregistered and harmful products.
In a statement aware In X on Friday, the agency said that the application in the Jabi district and the Wuser market followed the complaints of consumers and surveillance operations.
The authorities discovered food labeled only in Chinese and cosmetics without the proper registration, in violation of the NAFDAC regulations in the sale, distribution and labeling.
The supermarkets, located in Mike Akhigbe Way and Ebitu Ukiwe Street, closed for violating the agency’s labeling policy, which requires English translations for all products sold in the Nigerian market.
Nafdac said that the action was part of the efforts to protect public health and stop the circulation of products that endanger consumers.

The statement says: “Nafdac Seals Chines Superkerkets and cosmetics stores in Abuja to sell unregistered and harmful products
“NAFDAC has sealed two Chinese supermarkets in the Jabi district and eight cosmetics stores in Wuse Market, Abuja, for violating regulations on the sale, distribution and labeling of regulated products.
“The supermarkets, located in Mike Akhigbe Way and Ebitu Ukiwe Street, were closed after consumer and surveillance complaints, which confirmed the sale of unregistered foods labeled only in Chinese, in breach of the NAFDAC labeling policy, which requires English translations for the Nigerian market.”
