The crisis that balanced the Democratic Party of the Peoples (PDP) in the state of Edo continued on Sunday as the faction (inherited group) loyal to the Federal Capital Minister of Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom woke up, chose his state work committee, headed by Barr. NOSA OGIEVA.
Ogieva and another 13 members of the Edo PDP Executive who swore during the 2025 State Congress of the party in Benin, promised to bring together the members of the party, and added that PDP would soon begin to win the elections again in the state.
While 11 of the members were returned without opposition, it was announced that Tony Aziegbemi, Henry Tenebe and Victor Enoghama, challenged the presidency, the Secretary and the Deputy State Presidency, respectively.

A total of 576 delegates from the 192 neighborhoods participated in the elections.
Responding on behalf of the newly executive members, the president of the State Party, Barr. Nosa Ogieva said his appearance marked a new chapter in Edo PDP.
He promised not to betray the party or take for granted, adding that his leadership would reposition and change the name of the party in Edo.
Ogieva demanded by unity among party members, maintaining that the loyalty of the members is the basis of the PDP.
Previously in his opening comments, Dan Orbih said that former state governor, Godwin Obaseki, was responsible for the crisis in the party.
He claimed that Obaseki was discussed with all those he met in PDP, stating that the low performance of the party in the elections by the recently held elections showed how unpopular the PDP had become in Edo
Orbih urged the delegates to choose the people with capacity that would arouse the party in the state.
When carpet a previous statement issued by the other faction of the party, calling members to ignore the announcement of the State Congress.
He said: “Just yesterday (Saturday), I saw a statement issued by some fun characters that say they are advising the party members who do not attend this event. Are you not here?
“Those who have no moral authority to speak on behalf of the party must keep their mouths closed.
“As we prepare to choose our executive, I will ask you to vote for those with the capacity to lead this party, not those who will run out, not those who will deny the members their legitimate right
“As members of our great party. There is no doubt that PDP is going through a leadership crisis, both nationally and several other states.
“Let’s not fool ourselves for the first time in the history of our great party, we have chosen governors of PDP and founding leaders, founders of this party, leaving this party every day for a simple reason, the failure of leadership.
“The chosen governors live. The chosen senators are living. The chosen members of the Chamber live in the state of Edo, we know the root of our problem.
“We had a united party where everyone related to each other as brothers and sisters, until Godwin Obasiki joined our party.
“Obasiki destroyed our party. He sowed the seeds of discord, discord seeds deeply rooted in our party.
“He sinned against the party. He sinned against people. He sinned against the State.
Continuing, Orbih said: “He entered the party and destroyed everything good at the party. Today, the umbrella of our party is destroyed, torn, and today we are here to rebuild the party.
“What used to unite as a family was totally destroyed by Obaseki. He fought against all people except themselves, and in the end, we are in a very disadvantaged position in the policy of the state of Edo.
Orbih described the other faction of the PDP as a repentant who, according to him, only prayed so that the collapse party and then joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
