Prominent Southeast businessman and philanthropist, Prince (Dr.) Arthur Eze, has been unveiled as Chairman of the Governing Council of the Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management (IBUAM).
The inauguration ceremony, which took place on Friday in Abuja, saw the formal presentation of a letter of appointment to Prince Eze by the board of directors and management team of the university.
During the event, the founder and president of the university, Comrade Isaac Balami, said Chief Eze was named in recognition of his outstanding contributions to education, philanthropy and national development.
He described the billionaire businessman as a man who has consistently used his wealth to improve people and institutions, and noted that his leadership would add immense value to the vision and mission of the young university.
Balami said: “Our leader and president, Prince Dr. Arthur Eze, chairman of the governing council of the newly graduated Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management, courtesy of the Commander in Chief, President Bola Ahmad Tinubu.
“We present this to you not only as a leader who has distinguished himself on African soil, but as a global citizen.
“You founded an airline and operated one of the largest aircraft hangars in Europe, based at Stansted Airport, and understand aviation very well. You have a responsibility to guide us in the same way you have guided others.
“We are totally submissive to your leadership, your guidance and your prayers. On behalf of the Board of Trustees and Senate of the university, chaired by Prof. AVM (Rtd.) Paul Jemitola, who is also the Vice-Chancellor, we congratulate you, sir.”
In his acceptance speech, Prince Arthur Eze expressed his gratitude to the founder and management of the university for the trust reposed in him and pledged to support the growth and success of the institution.
He noted that the vision of the university aligns with that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly in promoting innovation, education and human capacity development.
A renowned figure in the South East, Prince Eze is widely celebrated for his philanthropy and unwavering commitment to national growth and leadership development across Africa. Described by many as one of the cleanest businessmen on the continent, Eze has made significant investments in both the public and private sectors.
Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management, which recently received its operational license, aims to provide world-class education in aviation, engineering, technology and management.
Reflecting its national outlook, the university’s appointments span all regions of Nigeria. While the founder hails from the northeast, the chairman of the governing council is from the southeast. The institution is located in the southwest, with its secretary from the north center and the pro-chancellor from the southwest.
