A popular and prominent governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Omooba Dotun Babayemi, has explained that all governorship aspirants currently seeking the party’s ticket in next year’s elections have pledged to work together for the victory of the party.
Babayemi noted that the determination of the aspirants to work in concert towards defeating the ruling party in the state was encouraging given the unity being forged in this direction.
He added that it was reassuring that the APC would emerge ahead in the 2026 elections due to the renewed determination of aspirants and members of the party to ensure that the ruling party in the state was dismissed.
The governorship aspirant, who stated this during the continuation of his state visit from district to district to the local governments of Ede North, South, Olorunda and Osogbo, where he reached ward 210, appealed to members of the party not to cause division among the aspirants, a fact which he warned could affect his fortunes.
In the ten wards visited in the four council areas, he highlighted that the aspirants currently considering the party’s candidacy number fourteen, and pleaded with APC supporters not to cause division between themselves and party members.
“What is important is for our party, the APC, to win the upcoming elections. We are 14 people currently vying to be elected as the APC candidate. However, it is only one of us who will eventually become the flag bearer of the party for the 2026 gubernatorial election. Therefore, our unity as a family must not be sacrificed on the altar of self-centeredness,” he said.
Those who spoke at the places visited praised Babayemi’s team spirit and assured that they would follow his advice to ensure sustained unity among party members.
The places touched in Ede North include Ward 7-(Sabo Agbongbe 2), Ward 4-Olusokun and Ward 5-Alasekere, while in Ede South, it was in Ward 1-Baba Nla Agate and Ward 2-Kuye.
The places visited in Olorunda LG were Ward 9 in Oba-Ile and Ward 10 in Oba Oke, while the following wards in Osogbo LG were touched upon: Ataoja B, Jagun B and Otun Jagun A.
