The Commissioner of Police in charge of Anambra State gubernatorial election, CP Abayomi Shogunle, will on Wednesday host heads of all security agencies in the state for a strategic security meeting aimed at harmonizing and strengthening operational structures already in place for the upcoming November 8, 2025 gubernatorial election.
The meeting, held at the State Police Command Headquarters, Awka, brought together service commanders from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Department of State Services, Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, Nigerian Immigration Service, Nigerian Customs, Federal Road Safety Corps and NDLEA.
The Commissioner of Police reiterated the collective commitment of security agencies to ensure peaceful, credible and violence-free elections. He emphasized the need for coordination and synergy, real-time intelligence sharing, joint patrols and professional conduct of personnel before, during and after the elections.
The service commanders, in their separate remarks, pledged full cooperation and reaffirmed their readiness to maintain law and order, safeguard voters, election officials, materials and critical national infrastructure across the state.
The PC assures residents and political actors that security agencies have jointly reviewed hotspots, drawn up deployment strategies and designed response mechanisms to quickly address any breach of peace.
Security agencies collectively urge the electorate to respect the law, avoid violence and participate in elections without fear of intimidation. Political parties and candidates are also urged to respect the rules and discourage their supporters from carrying out acts capable of disturbing the peace.
The Anambra State Security Architecture remains resolute and united to ensure that the will of the people prevails through the ballot box. To this end, neighbors are encouraged to report suspicious people and unusual movements that they may observe at the nearest police station or through Emergency Command number 112 or call 07039194332 for a prompt response, the CP concluded.
