The Zonal National Vice President of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the North Centre, Senator Tunde Ogbeha, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of reversing Nigeria’s progress, describing the ruling party as grossly incompetent.
He expressed confidence that the ADC would topple the APC in Kogi State and across the country in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Kogi East ADC over the weekend in Anyigba, Dekina Local Government Area, Senator Ogbeha said the turnout demonstrated the strength of the party and its readiness to deliver a better future for Kogi and Nigeria.
“With what I have seen here today, I am very pleased that ADC will certainly secure the future of Kogi East and by extension the future of Kogi as a state.
“Kogi East has the number and we are happy that our party, ADC, has their support. Therefore, we will have no reason not to change the narrative of the state and the country.
“In the last two years, hunger, poverty and insecurity, among other things, have devastated our country, and we must change that narrative and move from poverty to prosperity and the only party that can bring prosperity to this nation is ADC.
“Our party does not require a third party from anywhere in the world to come and tell us how to protect our country. ADC will protect the country in the best possible way. We feel your pains and know your wishes, and our party will fulfill your wishes,” he said.
Ogbeha urged his members and supporters to remain committed to the ADC, assuring them that the party would win the 2027 elections “even without money” both in Kogi State and nationally.
“The upcoming general elections will not be just for ADC, but for the people of Nigeria. The elections will be between APC and the people of Nigeria, and victory will certainly be ours. If we do not indulge in anti-party activities, there is no reason why we cannot dislodge APC in Kogi State and Nigeria at large,” he added.
He reminded party members that the challenge ahead requires unity and sacrifice. According to him, while the ADC may not have the resources, it does have the people, and “the desire of the people will prevail in 2027.”
Ogbeha also encouraged ADC youth and women to mobilize and organize for change, saying it was key to shaping their future and that of their children.
Earlier, the ADC leader in Kogi East and former Deputy Governor, Simon Achuba, said the people of the district joined the coalition to correct governance failures in Kogi State and the country.
“We have decided to adopt the ADC to achieve internal democracy. The ADC is a party that will prioritize the welfare, justice and unity of our people in Kogi State.
“Governance in Kogi State has been out of place for a long time. Basic education, rural health and other basic infrastructure no longer exists in rural communities. The local government councils that are supposed to address the needs of the communities are no longer functioning, that is why ADC has come to effect positive changes,” he said.
Also speaking, the Kogi State ADC Chairman, Mr. Kinsley Temitope Ogah, assured members that the party would produce the next President of Nigeria and called for unity among members of the state.
The ADC leader in Kogi West and former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Musa Ahmadu, has urged members to work together to make Kogi and Nigeria great again.
“We should not have any doubts about this coalition. This is how APC took over the government of the nation from the PDP. If we are determined, this coalition will be possible and it will be a surprise to Nigerians,” he said.
In his goodwill message, the ADC Deputy Secretary for National Welfare, Mr. David Itopa, who represented the people of Kogi Central, said the turnout reflected the readiness of Kogi East to take over the leadership of the state.
He added that the ADC was “the party of youth and women” and called on them to work hard for victory in 2027.
“APC has become grossly incompetent and has put the development of the country in reverse. People are no longer safe; the education of our children is in danger. This cannot continue,” he maintained.
