The Abuja Chapter of the Chartered Institute of Forensic and Certified Fraud Investigators of Nigeria (CIFCFIN) has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting accountability as part of efforts to support economic development.
At the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Institute in Abuja, the Chapter President, Mrs. Petu Joyce Aina, said the meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen Nigeria’s anti-fraud efforts and recognize professionals upholding integrity across the country.
Held at the Ministry of Finance, the Annual General Meeting began with a review of the chapter’s activities, combining policy discussions with professional development sessions.
In her presentation, Dr. Stacy Nwodo examined chain of custody standards and evidence integrity, issues that are becoming more complex with the rise of digital fraud.
In another presentation, Dr. Obayi Titus discussed patterns of corporate fraud and the growing need for cross-border research partnerships.
Speaking at the event, Pioneer President and CEO, Dr. Isa Salifu Egah, described the chapter as “home” and highlighted the importance of sustained promotion.
He also reflected on activities carried out during International Fraud Week, including media briefings, road walks and webinars, and emphasized that public awareness must remain a key strategy to address emerging financial crimes.
Members reviewed the financial report before holding an interactive session focused on regulatory gaps, institutional capacity challenges and the need for unified research standards across the public and private sectors.
