THE Federal Government and a publishing company, University Press Plc, have partnered to strengthen the skills of young people in the area of publishing, printing operations and management.
The partnership consists of a three-month training for skills acquisition and empowerment of young beneficiaries to prepare them to work in the world of printing or even establish their own businesses.
This initiative, spearheaded by the Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiatives, Dr. Titilope Gbadamosi, is aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, to empower youth to have in-demand skills that will make them employable or start their own entrepreneurial journey.
Speaking during the inauguration of the project at the Best In Print Academy, NTC Complex, Iyaganku, Ibadan, Dr. Gbadamosi said President Tinubu is committed to empowering the youth to prosper in their endeavours.
He said that apart from the printing operations and management initiative, training on conversion of automobiles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is also being carried out across the country, which aims to ensure that the youth benefit from the CNG policy of the Federal Government.
Dr. Gbadamosi said all these youth-centric initiatives showed the love the President has for these young Nigerians who will drive the development of the country in the nearest future.
Therefore, he urged the beneficiaries to grab the opportunity and acquire the skill that will definitely change their lives.
Earlier, the Managing Director of University Press Plc, Mr. Samuel Kolawole, thanked Dr. Gbadamosi for taking up the proposal to equip youth with necessary skills in the publishing and printing sector.
He also thanked the President of Best In Print Academy, Mr. Gbadega Adedapo, for his support to the project, adding that the academy facilities have updated printing equipment for the training of beneficiaries.
For his part, Adedapo also charged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the opportunity and learn from the best hands of the country’s printing industry so that they can be ready to work immediately.
In her vote of thanks, the Executive Director (Publications) of University Press Plc, Mrs. Folakemi Bademosi, thanked Dr. Gbadamosi for her vision for the country’s youth, which she says she displays through her works.
He also thanked Mr Kolawole and Mr Adedapo for working together to come up with the initiative that would bring new hands to the printing and publishing industry.
