The Ogun State Commissioner for Transport, Engr Olugbenga Dairo, has unveiled plans for the state’s 2026 transport infrastructure master plan.
Speaking to the media at his Oke-Mosan Abeokuta office, Dairo outlined key projects aimed at improving connectivity, boosting economic activities and improving the overall transportation network in the state.
According to him, the state government will develop two railway stations along the Lagos-Ibadan railway corridor, one at Ijoko and another at Kajola, a project aimed at improving passenger and freight services and spur economic growth in the region.
Additionally, the commissioner announced plans to establish modern multi-dimensional bus terminals in Abeokuta, in partnership with the federal government. The terminals would consolidate various Parks and Garages, reducing congestion and improving passenger transportation services.
Other strategic projects highlighted by Dairo included Gateway International Airport, Olokola Deep Sea Port and Kajola Inland Dry Port. The airport is currently in the process of stabilization, with the construction of new roads and infrastructure development underway.
The Commissioner emphasized the state government’s commitment to complete ongoing projects and initiate new ones to boost economic growth and improve the quality of life of residents.
The featured projects are expected to create jobs, stimulate economic activities and position Ogun State as a major transportation hub in Nigeria.
