The son of late Senator Buruji Kashamu, Hon Rasheed Kashamu, has abandoned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State.

Kashamu, representing Ijebu North State Constituency 1, announced his defection in a letter read by the Speaker of the House, Oludaisi Elemide, during the plenary session held at the Assembly Complex, Oke Mosan Abeokuta, on Monday.

The Speaker, while reading the letter in the House, said the lawmaker formally notified the House of his resignation from the People’s Democratic Party and his decision to join the APC.

He was said to have cited factional disputes at the national level and leadership struggles at the state level as reasons for his defection.

Kashamu cited the desire of his constituents and asked him not to let the local government suffer as one of the reasons for his defection.

“I have consulted widely with my constituents, including all stakeholders, traditional rulers and my people, who gave me the go-ahead to announce my defection from the House,” he said.

The lawmaker said he aligned his decision to join other progressives in the state to support Governor Dapo Abiodun’s progress under the Iseya Agenda and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to him, “after a review of the current state of affairs with the PDP at the national level with unresolved factions and leadership crises, and as someone who built on the pro-people legacy and support of my constituents in the Ijebu North 1 state coherence, I have agreed with my leaders and numerous supporters that we must move en masse towards the APC to take our winning formula in Ijebu North 1 to the APC and fully support Mr. Governor’s ISEYA agenda as well as the Agenda. of Renewed Hope by President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR

“I have since joined APC in my ward of Oke Sopen, Ijebu Igbo, Ijebu North Local Government Area of ​​Ogun State”

He informed the House that he had joined the APC in his Oke-Sopen ward, Ijebu-Igbo, Ijebu North Local Government Area, along with his numerous supporters across Ijebu North.
