Governor Yusuf Commends Tinubu, Rep. Bichi Over N47 Billion Wuju-Wuju Road Project – Tribune Online

Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusufhas expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the intervention of the Federal Government to complete the long-abandoned Wuju-Wuju road project in Kano at a cost of £47 billion.

The praise was given during the 35th meeting of the state Executive Council and was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, and made available to the press in Kano.

Governor Yusuf noted that the strategic highway project was originally initiated in 2013 under the administration of former Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, but stalled during the eight-year rule of the previous administration.

He explained that upon taking office, his government evaluated the project and formally requested federal intervention to ensure its completion.

According to him, the application was quickly reviewed, leading to the approval of £47 billion by the Federal Executive Council for the completion of the multi-use highway project.

The governor described President Tinubu’s approval as a demonstration of responsive leadership and strong commitment to infrastructure development, particularly in Kano State.

Governor Yusuf also commended the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations, Hon. Abubakar Kabir Bichi, for his role in facilitating the approval.

He praised Bichi’s coherence and perseverance, noting that he followed the project from the National Assembly to the Presidential Villa until it was approved.

He said Hon. Bichi stood firm from the initial application to the final approval stage, ensuring that the interests of Kano State were adequately protected.

The governor described him as a worthy ambassador of the state in the National Assembly and urged other federal legislators in Kano to emulate his dedication and results-based representation, regardless of differences between political parties.

Governor Yusuf further acknowledged Hon. Bichi’s contributions to other key projects in the state including the International Conference Center along Maiduguri Road and the proposed international standard stadium in Bichi.

The governor also appealed to President Tinubu to approve additional mega projects for Kano, citing the state’s status as the most populous in the country. He reaffirmed his administration’s willingness to collaborate with the Federal Government to accelerate sustainable development.

He assured residents that his government would continue to pursue strategic partnerships aimed at delivering tangible benefits and lasting infrastructure development across Kano State.
