The Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has announced the National Youth Leadership and Safety Initiative to commemorate International Youth Day 2026. The event, which will include the launch of a book written by ACP Olabisi Okuwobi, will be held from Thursday, August 20 to Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the Nigeria Police Resource Center in Jabi, Abuja, under the United Nations theme: “Different contexts, common aspirations”.The three-day initiative focuses on five core strategic pillars: leadership, security, innovation and enterprise, responsible citizenship and digital responsibility.

A key focus of the program is two national behavior change campaigns: “My future is bigger than the political bully”, which aims to steer young people away from violence ahead of the 2027 general election, and “Think before you click. Check before you share”, which aims to combat misinformation, cyberbullying and deepfakes. Innovation and Enterprise Showcase”, community outreach, a tree planting initiative, short film sketches and a youth honors and awards ceremony celebrating young achievers across multiple sectors. Through these programmes, the Force seeks to deepen trust between the police and young people and encourage preventive policing through strategic engagement.
