Commuters and commuters, who have been stuck in a traffic jam at the Benin Bypass in Edo for about 12 hours, have bemoaned their fate and called for urgent government intervention.
The cause of the traffic jam, according to some travelers, is sections of the road in poor condition that have forced trucks, buses and other vehicles to look for unavailable exits.

Vehicles traveling towards the South-South and South-East regions of the country said they were stuck at a particularly bad road intersection in Benin City.
Some of the commuters said they had been in the traffic jam since 1:50 am on Thursday and had remained there till the time of filing this report..
