At least 95 people have died and hundreds of tourists are still missing after a powerful flash flood and landslide hit the city. Nepal-The border region of Tibet, in one of the deadliest disasters that has hit Nepal in recent times.

According to Nepal’s tourism office, the missing include more than 100 Indian citizens, 47 Americans and 33 Britons. The border area is a well-known route for pilgrims and hikers, which explains the strong presence of foreign visitors when the flood occurred.

Nepal’s foreign minister has suggested that the disaster may have been caused by an earthquake that triggered an avalanche, although officials have not confirmed the exact cause.

Images emerging from both sides of the border capture the scale of the destruction. CCTV footage from Tibet shows a wall of water and mud hitting buildings at a border crossing, while separate videos from Nepal show residents struggling to escape as the waters moved forward.
