American singer Lionel Richie has been hospitalized in St Louis, Missouri, United States, after falling ill following his concert at The Muny in Forest Park on Saturday night.
The 77-year-old singer was reportedly hospitalized after the performance as a precaution and was treated in the intensive care unit while doctors performed tests.
He remains hospitalized as of Monday afternoon and is expected to be released Tuesday, according to TMZ.
Sources said Richie sought medical attention out of an abundance of caution, and doctors reportedly considered dehydration as a possible cause of his condition.
The hospitalization came after concertgoers noticed Richie seemed to be struggling towards the end of his performance in St Louis. While performing his last song, his iconic hit All Night Long, he asked for a chair and continued singing while sitting down.
The event has renewed concerns about the singer’s health, coming about two months after he fell ill during a concert in St Paul, Minnesota.
Richie had been performing at the Grand Casino Arena in June as part of his joint Sing A Song All Night Long tour with Earth, Wind & Fire when he stopped the show during a performance of Three Times a Lady.
His band subsequently left the stage, and more than 40 minutes after the interruption, saxophonist Dino Soldo returned to inform the audience that Richie would not be able to continue.
“Unfortunately, Lionel is not feeling well,” said saxophonist Dino Soldo, according to the Minnesota Star Tribune. You won’t be able to continue. More information will be available.

Fans who attended the Minnesota concert also expressed concern on social media, saying that Richie had not been feeling well during the performance.
Videos from the show showed the singer sitting down several times while performing Dancing On The Roof, his penultimate song. He also reportedly told the audience that he felt “dizzy.”
