A total of 21,971 admission applicants requested the exercise of detection after UTME 2025/2026 of the University of Ilorin, which began on August 28, 2025, and is expected to run until Thursday, September 4, 2025.
Speaking with journalists, the director of the University Computer Test Center (TCC), Professor Kamilu Rauf, said the year, which began with 26 minor applicants, included 20,220 candidates for the unified tertiary registration exam (UTME) and 1,751 candidates for direct entry (DE).
Professor Rauf also said that this year’s figure reflects an increase over 15,946 UTME last year and 1,175 direct entry candidates.

Around 12,856 candidates were admitted to the academic session 2024/2025, he said.
“This year, we recorded an addition of more than 4,200 UTME candidates and 576 direct entry applicants, which shows that more students are doing the University of Ilorin their first institution choice.”
The mathematics professor attributed the increase in applications to the growing reputation of the University for academic excellence, the uninterrupted academic calendar and efficient administration.

Professor Rauf also said that the year after UTME began on August 28 with 26 minor candidates of the 30 expected and will run until September 4, with the last day serving as a tintineo for the absent and candidates for Arab studies.
The director of the TCC reminded the candidates and their parents to strictly adhere to the exam guidelines, including clothing codes and the prohibition of devices such as mobile phones in the exam room.
He urged parents to avoid accumulating the exams, emphasizing that all the necessary information is available on the University website: www.unilorin.edu.ng.
Professor Rauf assured the candidates and parents that the university is fully prepared to perform an exercise without problems and without problems, urging all applicants to strictly adhere to the guidelines.
Also speaking, the president of the University Admissions Committee, Professor Abdulazeez Muhammad-Lawal, described the first day of the year as successful, noting that the candidates were done well.
Professor Muhammad-Lawal said: “We expected that 30 minor candidates participated today, but 26 of them really appeared. The exam was without problems and the students showed commendable discipline.”
However, he warned parents not to accompany their rooms to the exams, emphasizing that the process requires a biometric verification and must remain strictly focused on the candidate.
He explained that while some parents appeared on the first day, the university would not allow such practices during the main exams.
In a related development, the university’s admission officer, Mr. Abdulkareem Sanni, has assured candidates after UTM that they do not need to know anyone or pay any amount of money to any person or organization before the admission to the University of Ilorin is offered.
The admission officer explained that all the candidates had to do was have all the requirements for their election programs, since it emphasized the preparation of the university to give all the candidates the same opportunities.
Mr. Sanni, who is a main assistant registrar, explained that admissions would be offered based on the consideration of ordinary level results, the unified tertiary registration exams (UTME) and continuous detection results after UTME.
He added that for a candidate to be eligible for admission to the university, he must obtain a minimum of 180 in UTME and five levels of level and and must also pass the projection after UTME.
By saying that the five level credits or should not be more than two sessions for most courses, the admission officer said that the candidates who requested medicine and surgery, optometry and vision sciences, pharmaceutical sciences and computer engineering make their five credits or in no more than one sitting.
Mr. Sanni also ordered all the candidates, who are scheduled to sit the projection subsequent to the hand, to be punctual for the exercise, dress in a responsible manner and maintain the decorum at all times.
