A cargo ship, Chang Min, loaded with loads that included CNG trucks, wood products, tires and other highly combustible products, on Saturday had some of its sections destroyed by fire while it was anchored at the List consortium terminal in the APAPA port in Lagos.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Emergency Management Authority of the State of Lagos (LASEMA), the fire was launched through a combined effort of fire officials of the response response team, the Fire Service and Rescue of the State of Lagos, and the Fire Unit of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
According to the declaration of the signed by the permanent secretary of the authority, Dr. Olufmi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, the fire was observed at the discharge point and the cause has not yet been determined at the time of completing this report.
The Declaration of Lasma says: “After the alerts of anguish at 1755, the emergency management of the state of Lagos (Lasma), activated the state emergency response plans from the Cobra base in Onipanu.
“Upon arriving at the scene, it was observed that a Chang Min load ship with load that included CNG trucks, wood products, tires and other highly combustible products caught fire inside section two of the loading cellar.

“Preliminary investigations carried out by emergency responders in the scene revealed that the fire was observed at the discharge point and that the cause has not yet been determined at the time of the report.
“Life was not lost and nobody suffered wounds, since all sailors on board have been counted.
“The Cobra response equipment together with all other responders on the scene undertook the following actions: the crew report on board to give more information to the emergency response equipment on the instruction that the compartment will be fully closed to eliminate the oxygen supply, while an initial cushioning was performed;
“Emergency responders agreed to respond to fire on a method to combat hell in the safest way to eliminate secondary incidents and also guarantee the safety of all firefighters combatants;” Reoports of the Load Winery to allow fire teams to participate in the location of Inferno;
The declaration of Lasma also added that the fire has been completely extinguished and the recovery operation concluded.
