Ali Odefa has no legal position to call Southeast's Zonal-PDP meeting

The National Vice President (NVC) of the Popular Democratic Party (PDP), Southeast Zone, Hon. Chidiebere Goodluck EGWU, has asked the members of the party and the general public to ignore the claims or activities anchored by the former zonal president of the southeast expelled party, Chief Ali Odefa.

According to EGWU, Odefa is no longer a member of the party.

EGWU made this statement on Friday during the beginning of his zonal familiarization tour for the five southeast states, which began in the state of Imo.

The new Zonal President was accompanied by other Zonal Officers, including the Zonal Legal Advisor, Barr. UKKPAI UKAIRO, Secretary of Zonal Organization, Excmo. Mike Ahumibe, among many others, were welcome in the PDP Secretariat of the IMO state, Owerri by all members of the State Work Committee led by the president of the OMI State Party, RT. Excmo Austin Nwachukwu.

The welcome party also included and all the presidents of the LGA of the party led by its president of the PDP Ohaji/Egbema, Chief Emeka Chukwu.

In his welcome comments, the president of the PDP of the State of IMO, Nwachukwu thanked the executives of the party for their rapid response to the meeting despite the brief notification, praising his loyalty to the PDP.

In his speech to the party members, EGWU urged the Faithful Party and the public to completely ignore the ODEFA, reiterating that the alleged Odefa authority has no legal or party position.

Justifying his position, Egwu presented several judicial judgments that affirmed the expulsion of Ali Odefa of the PDP, as well as the key judgments that annulled the Kangaro Congress that said that Odefa returned him as national vice president of the PDP to the southeast.

Egwu declared: “That it is known throughout Ali Odefa is no longer a member of this party. Any deal with him in the name of PDP is null and without effect. He urges everyone to ignore their claims and respect the rule of law.”

The Zonal President declared that the problems related to the ODEFA membership of the PDP were established on February 26, 2025 by the honorable judge Hilary Io Oshomah in the Deliuvered trial on the lawsuit no: FHC/AI/CS/227/2024 that affirmed the expulsion of Odefa of the PDP.

“In Order Five of the Judgment, The Court Granted an Order of Perpetual Injunction Retraining the 1st Defendant (Ali Odefa) From Parading Himself As a Member of the Peoples Democratic party party /or as the National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party for the South East Zone of Nigeria and From contining. Or Exercise The Powers Accorded to the National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party for the South East Zone of Nigeria, ”he said.

According to EGWU, it is also important that party members know that “the court also restricted both the PDP and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to treat or recognize Ali Odefa as a member of the PDP.”

He said that in the lawsuit no: FHC/AI/CS/2/2025 The Court affirmed Hon. Chidiebere Goodluck EGWU as a substantive national president of the PDP, Southeast Zone.

In the alleged zonal congress that Odefa said that he returned him as national vice president, EGWU told the party members that, in addition to an order of the Superior Court of FCT, in the lawsuit not: FCT/HC/CV/325/2025, which prohibited the PDP and INEC from holding the Congress.

In addition, EGWU revealed that an upper court in ENUGU that was previously cheated by Odefa was also launched and the previous order was wrongly granted to Odefa in the lawsuit no: E/132/2025, thus invalidating the statements of Alidefa to the seat of the Zonal President of the PDP.

Ensuring the members of the Inclusive Leadership Party, EGWU promised to involve all those interested constructively and work in close collaboration with national leadership, especially the interim national president, Ambassador Umar Ladyum, the president of the PDP reform committee, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki; and the National Secretary of the PDP, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, to ensure that party members in the area meet to reorganize the party before the general elections of 2027.

In addition, in his comments, the Zonal Organizing Secretary of the Southeast, Chief Mike Ahumbe, declared that Odefa has continued to turn multiple judicial failures that prevented him from impersonating the vice president of PDP for the area.

He criticized the open support of Governor Peter MBAH of Odefa, describing him as discarded contempt by the rule of law.

Ahumibe, however, expressed happiness with the appearance of EGWU as a zonal president who states that “the PDP has returned. We are rebuilding stronger and more united than ever. The revival wave is sweeping the region and in Nigeria.”

In his own comments, the Zonal Legal Advisor informed the members of the party that, due to the subsistence sentences that affirm the expulsion of Ali Odefa of PDP, as well as the court order that the head of the illegal congress arrested, Odefa had planned, the INEC after reviewing the subsistence trials boycotted the illegal congress.

He reiterated the position of the Party Zonal Work Committee to galvanize the members in the five southeast states.

He revealed that the next state for the familiarization visit is the state of Abia.
