The Apapa Command of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) on Monday said it achieved a record collection of N304b for the month of October 2025, being the highest monthly revenue generation by any customs command in the history of the Service.
This record, which surpasses the N264b collected in the month of October 2024, brings the total collection by the command for the first ten months of this year to N2,402,141,493,747.06.
With this, the command has exceeded the total collection it achieved in 2024, two months before the end of 2025.
The Customs Area Comptroller of the Command, Emmanuel Oshoba, who commended officers and stakeholders for their contributions to the success, described it as the beginning of more revenue generating feats during his tenure.
According to the CAC, the latest revenue achievement is an initial test of the command’s willingness to process a greater volume of trade, which will result in higher revenue for the government.
He said officers and men have been sensitized ahead of a Drive Through Scanning regime that would process an average of 150 containers per hour from the quayside, which will be revolutionary in the annals of trade facilitation in any West African port.
Comptroller Oshoba said the command, after internal training for the newly promoted Deputy Comptrollers and Deputy Comptrollers of Customs, has been prepared to optimally deliver in line with the directives of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
“I congratulate my officials and our obedient stakeholders for this milestone in revenue collection, but it is not our final destination. While we are implementing all trade facilitation tools as directed by the CGC, including the Single Window (OSS), which harmonizes all customs procedures and processes to save time and promote efficiency, we are also preventing revenue leakages.
“We have a zero-commitment stance on the application of demand notices (DN) for the recovery of discovered revenue shortfalls, and my officials are very vigilant in monitoring any attempts to misapply the Harmonized System (HS) Code for duty evasion.
“To emphasize the importance we attach to trade facilitation, I personally made unannounced visits to some parts of the port access roads where I urged truckers, freight forwarders and authorized customs agents to cooperate with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) by prioritizing the movement of their consignments cleared out of the ports.
“I also visited the Port Administrator to strengthen our collaboration to make Apapa Port very efficient. If authorized shipments do not leave, new ones arriving for examination or scanning would slow down and this affects trade directly while impeding NCS revenue collection and trade facilitation mandates.
“We need everyone’s support to consolidate and build on the existing achievements we have recorded in terms of revenue collection and trade facilitation. We are ready to do better,” the CAC said.
