APC needs Kwankwaso to survive in 2027: Kano NNPP chairman – Tribune Online

As political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 presidential election, the Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano State, Alhaji Hashimu Suleiman Dungurawa, has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) is confident that Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso will rescue its dwindling fortunes.

According to him, APC leaders believe that only Kwankwaso, former governor of Kano and national leader of the NNPP, has the political clout to improve their chances in 2027.

“The only better option they see is Dr Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso,” he said, insisting that despite rumours, it is the APC that is making overtures, not Kwankwaso who plans to return to his former party.

Disclosing this while speaking to journalists in Kano on Thursday, Dungurawa stated that the ruling party has become “weak, confused and directionless” and is now looking for a powerful political figure to revive its waning influence.

Dungurawa accused the APC of presiding over more than a decade of worsening poverty, hardship and insecurity across the country, saying Nigerians yearn for a leader with the vision, competence and courage to reverse the nation’s decline.

He maintained that Kwankwaso remains the most credible alternative capable of repositioning Nigeria if elected president in 2027.

He urged Nigerians, especially Kano residents, to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), stressing that only active electoral participation can usher in the leadership they desire. “A Kwankwaso presidency will improve their lives,” he added.

On the recently presented 2026 budget, the NNPP Chairman commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for proposing a N1.368 trillion fiscal plan, describing it as a continuation of the administration’s transformative agenda. He said the budget, called the “Infrastructure, Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development Budget,” builds on the successes of the 2025 “Hope Budget.”

Dungurawa noted that the proposal would accelerate development in key sectors, including education, health, agriculture, road construction and drinking water supply.
