The Academic Staff Universities Union (ASUU) has declared that any appointment and promotion made under the Integrated System of Payment and Information of Personnel (IPPIS) is illegal.
The Newslodge deduced that the union has been on strike since March 2020.
ASUU declared the strike because the government did not comply with the agreement reached with the Union regarding the financing of the revaluation of the universities, the academic subsidies won, the panel of visits to public schools, the proliferation of universities and their governance and conclusion of the 2009 FGN renegotiation- ASUU Agreement.
ASUU President Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, in a strike bulletin made available in the DIARIO DIARIO on Monday, argued that the union will insist on the revocation of appointments and promotions during the strike for not complying with the established rules and procedures for do what.
Ogunyemi also lashed out at some vice chancellors who promise online deliveries that they cannot defend.
He also affirmed that the appointment through the illegal IPPIS by some vice-rectors will be revoked.
ASUU also asked members not to fill out any forms or documents sent to them through their vice chancellors, claiming that some university vice chancellors were working with the National Commission on Universities (NUC) to collect “false” data.
Akinwole stated that the Union was working to ensure that teachers who have not yet received their salaries for four months receive a payment while working tirelessly to obtain new salaries and welfare packages in line with global standards for their members.
“It is against the ongoing fight for any member to participate in any appointment during time because it will fail all standard procedures.
“How many institutions can boast functional institutional mail? How many of the institutions have functional Internet service? Some of them are behind the problems that universities face with corrupt behavior.
“ASUU wrote petitions to anti-corruption agencies about these VCs but did not obtain results, which makes us believe that they are working with the ruling class to destroy the common heritage. Employing under IPPIS while on strike is also illegal.
“They will insist on the revocation of such appointments. We will pursue our desire to get the best of the University for our children, as well as a better welfare system for our members. “
