The Sokoto State House of Assembly passed a bill to regulate the activities of private healthcare providers in the state to ensure that they meet the minimum standard.
This followed the adoption of the House Health Committee report, presented by President Alhaji Ibrahim Sarki (PDP-Sokoto North II) at Wednesday’s plenary in Sokoto.
Alhaji Bello Ambarura, requested the consideration of the report.
Vice President Abubakar Magaji, who chaired the session, put the motion to an oral vote and it was adopted unanimously by the legislators.
In addition, the Chamber approved a bill to establish the State Agency for the Management of Medical Consumables.
Thereafter, the House suspended the plenary session until January 19, 2021 to allow lawmakers to celebrate the Christmas and New Year holidays.
