The Union of Universities of Academic Personnel (ASUU) has directed all its members in all branches throughout the country to boycott classes in any month, their salaries are delayed beyond the third day of a new month and remain like this until their salaries are paid.
The union said that he invoked this “does not pay, without a work rule”, because members cannot continue working without food in their stomachs and without money to transport themselves to work or fulfill other obligations
The president of the Union, Professor Christopher Piwuna, revealed this in an exclusive interview with Nigerian Tribune on Monday night.
He affirmed that the way in which the federal government is “deliberately frustrating” the without problems of the Integrated Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (Gifmis) that replaced the Integrated Integrated Information Information System (IPPIS) (IPPIS) reported that you take this work boycott route.
According to him, “FG is punishing the university community because we reject the Ippis platform.
“We firmly believe in this position because we cannot understand how other workers who are still under Ippis receive an immediate payment, while suddenly we had migrated from the platform, we are not paid immediately, again.
“Now, we do not receive our salaries when we must again and our best explanation of this sudden development is that the government is punishing us just because we were out of the IPPIS platform.
“There is no other way to explain this because we are very sure that if we remain within Ippis, they would have paid us when others are paid.
“And even more, the government has not come to tell us why our salaries are always delaying.
“Then, the position of the union now and in which NEC has already resolved is that if our salaries are not paid the third day of a new month, we will not work until we pay ourselves. And we have communicated it to all our branches.
“This is simply because the economy is not friendly to us, like many other Nigerians.
“And that is why we continue to ask the Government to allow us to conclude, once and for all, our renegotiation in the 2009 agreement to know where we are all going.”
