The legacy of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo deeply resonated in the placement of the base of the Ikenne church house, located on the Dideolu farm in Oniru, Lagos on Friday.
The land in which the building is erected was donated to the Anglican Church by the late wise man, Chief Awolowo.
The ceremony, a moving tribute to the lasting generosity of Chief Awolowo, was adorned by his daughter, the ambassador (Dr.) Olatokunbo Awolowo-Dosumu, who expressed an immense gratitude for the development of the earth.
“I feel satisfied. I feel a feeling of praise and glory to the Almighty God that I can witness the development of this land,” said Awolowo-Dosumu ambassador, president of the African newspapers of Nigeria PLC.
She emphasized her happiness when she saw the fruit of her father’s gift, noting that the purpose for which the earth was given is finally being carried out.
The new house of the Church, once completed, will generate income for the Church, fulfilling the original intention of the donation.
In a powerful call to action, he urged the Nigerians in a position to do the same. “We need to do the same because we cannot overcome God,” he said.
Previously, during his sermon, the most reverend (Dr.) Michael Olusina Fape, the bishop of Remo Anglican diocese and archbishop of the province of Lagos, spoke about the issue of divine grace, affirming that success is not by power or power, but by the Spirit of God.
“We cannot meet like this and not thank God for what he has done for us,” he said.
Archbishop Fape specifically thanked Chief Awolowo for his kind gesture in providing land property, which he had been fundamental in the ability of the diocese to undertake other projects.
“By the grace of Christ, if we consider what God has done for us in the diocese of rowing in the last six years, it would not have been possible to build other houses that obtained the earth through the kind gesture of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo,” said the cleric.
He praised Chief Awolowo as an individual whose voice and legacy continue to live from generation to generation.
“We thank God that we cannot build at all; we are building something, and that something we are building is on this earth,” he said, describing the donation as a gift for which the Church would be eternally grateful.
