The Government of the State of Borno, in association with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), has launched the 'Adopt-A-PHC Naija Challenge' to reduce infant mortality and the number of children in zero doses in communities affected by conflicts throughout the state.
Speaking during the launch of the program on Tuesday in Maiduguri. Joseph Senesie, interim chief of the Unicef ​​Maiduguri Field Office, said the initiative is addressed to children who have never received routine vaccines by mobilizing caregivers to make sure they complete their immunization schedules.
He pointed out that the association would strengthen the planning, defense and coverage of routine immunization in the state.
“The change begins with people,” he said, praising the commitment of the young people involved in the program. Senesie added that UNICEF would continue to support young people to become champions and agents of change in the mobilization of caregivers and reduce preventable deaths of vaccines among children.
UNICEF also praised the leadership of the Board of Primary Health Development of the State of Born for its role in promoting behavior change and the expansion of access to vaccines.
Present at the launch were the directors of the Primary Health Care for the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council, the Mallam Hassan Abubakar and the local government area of ​​Jere, Hajia Yagana Shettima, together with officials of the Primary Health Development Board, partners and members of the humanitarian community.
The Board officials reformulated their commitment to the health priorities of the Babagana Zulum governor and the 25 -year development plan of the State, whose objective is to strengthen medical care systems and improve access in unattended communities.
The Naija Adoppt-A-PHC challenge is funded by the Canadian government and backed by the Foundation for Alternative Learning in Unattended Communities (FALUC).
