The Governor of the State of Akwa Ibom has formally left the Democratic Party of the Peoples (PDP) for the ruler Congress of all progressives (APC).
The announcement was made on Friday at the Hayo government house, the state capital, which marked a significant political change in the south-south state rich in oil.
ENO said his dropout followed “three months of broad consultation” with interested parties throughout the state.
He thanked the PDP for his support from the beginning of his administration, but pointed out that it was time for a “progressive movement.”
The governor linked his decision with his admiration for President Bola Tinubu and the need for Akwa Ibom to align with the federal government to benefit more from the center.
“After completing the rounds of my consultation as his servant whom he has chosen to serve, therefore, I have decided to progressively move on to APC,” he said.
“We join the APC today in the state interest and due to our critical admiration and respect for President Tinubu and to provide the necessary support for the president of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.

“We are not joining the APC from the position of weakness, but of the position of strength and living. We are joining the APC for the need to align our state with the center.”
Angry assured residents that their administration remains committed to serving all citizens, regardless of party affiliation.
The Defection Event Was Attended By Several APC Governments, Including Chairman of the Progressives Governments Forum and Imo State Government, Hope Uzodimma, As Well As Babajide Sanwo-olu (Lagos), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Sheriff OborevWori (Delta), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), and Bassey Otu (Cross River), among others.
