ANXIETY reigned in the Ikare Akoko area of ​​Ondo State over the disappearance of the 85-year-old Olukare of Ikare, Oba Samuel Kolapo Adegbite-Adedoyin.

Oba Adedoyin, the 17th Owa-Ale of lkare reigned for 48 years.

reliably gathered that the most important monarch passed away early Tuesday in his palace located in the Okorun area of ​​the ancient city.

A source in the palace said the traditional ruler died after a brief illness.

Oba Adedoyin before his passing was the chairman of a group of traditional rulers of the Ondo state under 130 Krown Obas and a member of the Obas State Council.

The people of the ancient city who sported a sad look gathered in groups to discuss the disappearance of the traditional ruler.

Contacted, the Olona of Ikare, Grand Chief Rafiu Okunade said that the palace would make an official announcement after all the necessary traditional rites had been carried out in accordance with community norms.

The late Oba Adedoyin was born in 1935, two years after the death of Saint Moses Orimolade, the founder of the Chembim and Seraphim Church, who was also from the Okorun area of ​​Ikare.

Oba Adedoyin, the only child of his late mother, Mama Janet Omotola Adedoyin, attended Ebenezer A / C school, Ikare, on several occasions; Victory College, Ikare, where he was a classmate of famous Nigerians like the late Chief Gani Fawehinmi; Secretary of Afenifere, Basorun Seinde Arogbofa and many others.

The monarch, a former lay president of the African Church around the world, studied law in the UK before returning home to ascend the throne of his ancestors in 1972.

His reign, according to a city leader, “would not be forgotten, as he used his connection as a famous lawyer and educated Owa-Ale for the first time to facilitate the establishment of more than eight high schools between 1978 and 1982.
