There is a beer elaboration crisis in the Nigeria oil and gas sector after a filtering memorandum arose that indicates that the management of the Dangote oil refinery has ended the use of all its workers for joining the Association of Senior Personnel of Nigeria Petroleum and Gas of Nigeria (Pegassan).
The filtered memorandum, sighted by Tribune Online and shared in X by a political commentator, Imran Wakili, was aimed at all the 650,000BPD refinery staff.
According to the memorandum, signed by FEMI Adekunle, Chief General Manager of Human Assets Management, the decision was taken as “total reorganization” after “recent cases of sabotage reported in different units of the oil refinery that leads to great security concerns.”
The memorandum added that the refinery is “limited to carrying out a total reorganization of the plant.”
“As a consequence of this development, we want to inform you that your services are no longer necessary, with effect from the eve of Thursday, September 25, 2025.
“Please, deliver all the properties of the company in its possession to its line manager and obtain an exit authorization accordingly, but the date to do so, will be communicated later.
“The Department of Finance is recommended, through a copy of this letter, to calculate all its benefits and rights in accordance with its terms of employment and service conditions and pay the amount that is owed (less all indebtedness), subject to the condition that you have obtained the certificate of authorization of output as mentioned above,” added the memorandum.
However, Wakili said in the X post that the development occurs less than 24 hours after 90 percent of them joined Pegessan.
Dangote Refinery and Nupeng are currently involved in a dispute over direct fuel distribution throughout the country, says online tribe.
Reacting, president of Peggasan, Festus Osifo, who doubled as president of the Nigerian Trade Union Congress (TUC), confirmed the development of the Daily Post, but assured that the company would reverse the decision.
“Yes, it’s true. We saw the latter last night (Wednesday).
“I can assure you that they will remember them all,” he said.
However, Dangote Refinery has not yet issued a statement confirming or denying the note when presenting this report.
