CVR: women lead the year as INEC declares 509,929 new registrants

The Independent National Electoral Commission has granted an estimate of 509,929 as eligible Nigerians that have so far registered in the continuous exercise of voting registration.

According to Sam Olumekun, national commissioner and president of the Voting Information and Education Committee, the figure included those who participated both in the online pre -registration registry and in the physical registry (in person).

Giving a breakdown, the commission revealed that women have the largest number with 2,304,211 (51,83%) compared to men with 2,141,294.

“As of Friday, September 12, 2025, the combined figures of online pre -registration and physical record (in person) are 509,929 of which 229,758 (45.06%) are men and 280,171 (54.94%) are women.

“In terms of age and occupation, 378,132 (74.15%) are young between the ages of 18 and 34, while 196,529 (38.54%) are students.”

The statement also revealed that in the year prior to the online registry it was put at 4,445,505 that lasted four weeks, the women led with 2,304,211 compared to 2,141,294 men.

The statement declared that “the detailed distribution of online and complete records per state, gender, age, occupation and disability has been charged to our website and other official platforms to obtain public information.”

Speaking about the exercise in the territory of the Federal Capital, Olumekun declared that the pre -registration of voters online will end on Monday, while in the next two weeks, the physical option (in person) will be in the designated places.

“Subsequently, the Commission will transmit the registration to all 62 rooms in the FCT from September 29 to October 8, 2025. Detailed addresses of the centers have already been uploaded to our official platforms.
