The new Popular Party of Nigeria (NNPP) has refuted a press release that makes the rounds on the political realignment of its former presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, with the Congress ruling of all progressives (APC) before 2027.

The National Advertising Secretary of the Party, Ladipo Johnson, in a statement made available to Tribune Online in Abuja clarified that the alleged press release emanated from the national leader of the NNPP, Senator Musa Kwankwaso and urged the general public to ignore him as the hand of mischief manufacturers.

The statement according to Johnson stated that the former Governor of the state of Kano rejected the pleas of President Bola Tinubu in Kwankwaso joining APC based on his political convictions and preferences even with the denunciation of the political positions of the federal government and the effect on the people.

“Our attention has been called the attention of a supposedly accredited press release to the national leader of the new Popular Party of Nigeria (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, making statements and spurious positions about his imagined political realignments, particularly with the ruling congress of all progressive (APC).

“The long statement is obviously an ax narrative with negative political objectives, but has unfortunately failed to achieve its planned purpose.

“We want to categorically affirm that the declaration under reference is false, unfounded and a product of political mischief.

“The statement emanated from our national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and should not be taken into account in its entirety,” reads the statement.

Johnson also declared that Kwankwaso has deliberately refrained from commenting on contemporary political events and that he will continue to do so for the moment.

The party urged the public to involve only statements that come from the public handles of Kwankwaso and other official sources of the party, instead of such false publications on media platforms aimed at informing badly and deceiving the public.
