In the wake of recent cult killings, especially during the Christmas season in Sapele, outgoing Delta State Police Commissioner Hafiz Inuwa has ordered the transfer of all police inspectors from the Sapele Police Division.

Also affected by the transfer are all police sergeants and bases in the division.

According to a wireless message dated December 31 and signed by a Deputy Police Commissioner, Mr. Sa’ad Ibrahim, titled “Reorganization / Rank and File Inspectors,” the transfer will take effect with immediate effect.

The statement that was seen by, also hinted that 45 staff members from various divisions across the state have also been deployed to take over service positions for those affected.

Although the message did not reveal the motive for the mass transfer, State Police Public Relations Officer DSP Onome Onowakpoyeya, while confirming the transfer when contacted yesterday, denied claims that the redeployment is the result of the killings of cultists. In the area.

According to the police spokesman, “the transfers have nothing to do with the security situation in the area, but only an internal problem of the police, otherwise, why was the DPO not also eliminated?”

However, a police source from the Sapele Police Area Command revealed that the exercise was one of the police efforts to contain the growing wave of cult killings in Sapele.

Recall that two people died on the eve of the New Year’s Day celebration after a stylist was also shot and killed four days earlier in his store.
