In an attempt to reduce maternal and child mortality in the state of Ebonyi, the wife of the state governor, Chief Mary-Maudaline Nwifuru, has registered 4,078 pregnant women and 600 babies from 0 to 5 years in the state health insurance scheme through their foundation, better health for rural women and the base of internal displaced (Berwo).
According to the first lady, no woman deserves to die while she gives another life. The foundation of Mrs. Nwifuru, Berwo, team leader, Professor Nkechinyere Emma-Echiegu revealed this while listed by the governor's wife's achievements through the Foundation.
Professor Emma-Echiegu said that the governor's wife has also built widows in the state and enrolled more than 300 falciform cell champions in the state health insurance scheme.
He added that the basis of the governor's wife has also treated more than 300 adults and male children with scrotal hernia.
“In the last two years, I must tell him that we have been able to do a lot as long as he is not even everywhere in the news. Last year we could register 4,078 pregnant women in medical insurance.
“We also register 600 babies for the health instance, from 0 to 5. Reason, we can be retirement that we have registered pregnant women. Now not follow what happens with these women after giving birth. Did children survive? Did they dwell? Is it an important problem and that is why we had to register these 600 children to evaluate free care.
“We also register 300 falciform cell champions.
“We were able to perform surgery for scrotal hernia in more than 300 adults and male children.”
Speaking about the empowerment of youth and women, the leader of the Berwo team said that the Foundation gave scholarships to seven Ebonyi children who squeeze in Abuja, while several skills were taught to others, who were also provided onset kits.
Then he urged parents to be resistant, avoid spoon feeding and let their children deprot. According to her, overprotection is the true cause of the problems facing the current generation.
“There is no shortcut to greatness, you must work hard to survive. We feed on a spoon and protect our children too much and spoil them. We change that attitude better, we are responsible adults because we go through the right process and we are losing the value. Children need to learn from their mistakes, but we look in words and guide them and receive help when we need.”

He also urged couples to respect each other.

In addition, he pointed out that the state government, through the Berwo Foundation, has the objective of distributing 17,000 postnatal care articles to pregnant mothers and infants in rural communities under the Baby Shower initiative of Mrs. Nwifuru.
Mrs. Emma-Echiegu also said that Berwo had empowered 60 young people in various skills.
“We could also empower children with functional skills. They learned skills in different features that we gave them. It is one thing to train children in skills is something else to give them start kits.
“We bought different kits. They had to start on their own. We did skills training, then we did the computer training for 60 people and gave them computers after training because if you train and not set up, it is nothing. We gave them HP computers around 400,000 and more and are using it,” he said.
