Ebonyi: Nwifuru uses 600 health workers, establishes three oxygen producing plants

The Ebonyi state government says that it has used no less than 600 doctors, nurses and other workers in the state health system.

The State Health Commissioner, Dr. Moses Ekuma, announced this in Abakaliki the state capital.

According to the commissioner, the recruitment and the high salary of doctors in the state is to encourage them to fulfill their duties effectively, which has helped address health emergency cases in the various health centers in the state, Southeast, Nigeria.

Ekuma also pointed out that the state government with the support of the United Nations Childhood Fund (UNICEF), acquired and established oxygen plants located in several places in the three senatorial districts of the State with the head.

“It was also part of our movements to improve qualitative medical care for citizens.

“When we went up on board, we discovered that our health staff was preparing oxygen from Port Harcourt, Rivers, then we talked to UNICEF on the subject and that application was approved.

“We have one at the Teaching Hospital of the Federal University of Alex-Ekwueme, Abakaliki, the state capital; Owutu-Edda General Hospital, area of ​​the local government of Edda (LGA) and the General Hospital of Onueke, Ezza-South Lga,” he said.

Ekuma said that within two years, the state government also acquired ambulance vehicles and began the operation of emergency ambulance services.

“The ambulance emergency service became necessary to help pregnant women in terms of childbirth and some other emergencies such as dog or snake bites, among others.

“Victims can access ambulance services for free within 48 hours,” he added.

In labor, Ekuma said that more than 600 health personnel were employed in the State Health workforce, including doctors, nurses and midwives.

“Not only did we use them, we also made improvements in their assignments; comfortable cars and accommodations were provided to retain them working with us, the state government.

“This is also to reduce the search for more ecological pastures among doctors. The governor gave SUV cars to doctors and places the least salaries at N500,000 per month.

“All health centers have improved because the governor wants the best for their people. We have facilities, where midwives are being trained and more than 100 midwives have benefited from it.

“So, we have the governor who has his people in his heart,” said the commissioner.
