The EDO State Executive Council has approved a revised supplementary budget of N799.820 billion N675.200 billion initials, which represents an increase of N125 billion, or 18 percent for fiscal year 2025.
It was learned that the approval followed an Emergency Executive Meeting chaired by the President in the Council and the Governor of the State, on Monday Okpebholo, on Monday.
Informing the journalists after the meeting, the finance commissioner, Emmanuel Okoebor, explained the justification behind the adjustment and emphasized the government’s commitment to the development of infrastructure.

He explained: “Previously, we have a budget of N675 billion with recurring expenses that have about 33 percent and the capital of 67 percent.
“The new reviewed budget now has about 70 percent for capital spending compared to 30 percent for recurring spending.
“Shows the governor’s commitment on Monday Okpebholo in the development of infrastructure in the state of Edo.”
Okoebor also explained the size and nature of the increase, saying that: “The increase in the budget is approximately N125 billion, which means about 18 percent of the previous budget.
“Recurrent increased with approximately N12 billion, while capital is approximately N113 billion of the previous one. Given an increase of approximately 25 percent in capital spending and only 5 percent increase in recurrent spending.
“It clearly shows that the government is concerned about the development of infrastructure that makes people happy. We have made about 254 km of roads throughout the state, and many more construction works are ongoing.
“The recurring spending has an increase of approximately 5 percent, since the increase in the minimum wage required that the increase, including a lot of employment, the current administration carried out at the Hospital Administration Board for more than 1000 and must be captured.
“The budget has increased in N125 billion, which is around 18 percent, and the capita expenditure around 25 percent increase, from N450 billion to N563 billion.”
According to the Honorable Information and Communication Commissioner, Paul Ohombamu, the reviewed budget is expected to be sent to the EDO State Assembly Chamber for legislative consideration and approval.
