The Anambra State Government has renewed its attraction for residents to adopt telemedicine services as part of efforts to expand access to health benefit in the state.
The State Health Commissioner, Dr. Afam Obidike, made the call on Thursday, during an interactive session with no less than 42 doctors who work under the program.
Obidike explained that the initiative, introduced by the Ministry of Health, was designed to close the health gaps, particularly in rural and unattended communities where hospitals and clinics are limited.

He pointed out that telemedicine provides patients with the opportunity to consult doctors virtually, receive medical advice and obtain recipes without traveling long distances.
He described the approach as profitable and lifeguard, especially during emergencies or in areas with weak health infrastructure.
The commissioner reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthen the scheme and warned against acts capable of sabotling their success.
He said: “Telemedicine is an initiative designed to close health gaps, particularly in rural and unattended communities where hospitals and clinics are limited.
“Therefore, the state government is renewing its appeal to residents to adopt telemedicine services as part of the efforts to expand access to health benefit throughout the State.“
